The 71st Rescue Squadron (71 RQS) is a part of the 23d Wing at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta Georgia. They operate the HC-130J Combat King II supporting search and rescue operations as well as air-to-air refueling for helicopters and tilt-rotor aircraft (HH-60 Pave Hawk depicted in this artwork). Moody sits in the swamp lands of southern Georgia and can often feel very much like Vietnam. One of their mantras: “Support Rescue, get lost”! (see more below)

The Lockheed Martin HC-130 is an extended-range, search and rescue /combat search and rescue version of the C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft, with two different versions operated by two separate services in the U.S. armed forces. The HC-130J is a result of the HC/MC-130 recapitalization program and replaces Air Combat Command’s aging HC-130P/N fleet as the dedicated fixed-wing personnel recovery platform in the Air Force inventory.
The Sikorsky MH-60G/HH-60G Pave Hawk is a twin-turboshaft engine helicopter in service with the United States Air Force. It is a derivative of the UH-60 Black Hawk and incorporates the US Air Force PAVE electronic systems program. The HH-60/MH-60 is a member of the Sikorsky S-70 family.
