MAG-12 is forward deployed to the Pacific AOR primarily to serve as a defense deterrent and response to North Korea and to support mutual partnership allies in the region with exercise and training support. They are located on mainland Japan in Iwakuni near the famous landmark known as the Kintai Kyo Bridge and Castle. Just 45 minutes south of Miyajima’s UNESCO world heritage shrine Itsukushima and the floating Tori Gate, and 1 Hour South of Hiroshima Japan where the atomic bomb was dropped in August of 1945. MAG-12‘s nickname is the “Ready Group” and motto: “Fight and Win Tonight”.
