Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 39 (MALS – 39) is based out of Marine Corps Air Station, Camp Pendleton and is the type/model/series logistics lead for all USMC UH – 1Y and AH – 1Z assault support aircraft, while also supporting two MV – 22 squadrons (VMM – 164, VMM – 364). They provide unparalleled aviation logistics support, guidance, and direction to the flying squadrons of Marine Aircraft Group 39 (MAG – 39). The squadron name is “Hellhounds.”

Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 39 (MALS-39) is an aviation logistics support unit of the United States Marine Corps. Once known as the “Magicians,” they are now known as the “Hellhounds”, and they fall under the command of Marine Aircraft Group 39 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and are currently based at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, California. Their mission is to provide aviation logistics support, guidance, planning and direction to Marine Aircraft Group squadrons on behalf of the commanding officer, as well as logistics support for Navy funded equipment in the supporting Marine Wing Support Squadron, Marine Air Control Group, and Marine Aircraft Wing/Mobile Calibration Complex.
Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton or MCAS Camp Pendleton is a United States Marine Corps airfield located within Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. It was commissioned in 1942 and is currently home to Marine Aircraft Group 39. The airfield is also known as Munn Field in honor of Lieutenant General John C. “Toby” Munn, the first Marine aviator to serve as the Commanding General of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.
