Hickam Field PACAF Inspector General
Hickam Field PACAF Inspector General poster art.
The PACAF IG team are the “Eyes and Ears” of the MAJCOM Commander. The “Bearcats” team visits every PACAF base regularly to ensure mission readiness and compliance. The Bearcat “Cave” (office) is located inside the PACAF HQ bldg. Used as barracks during WWII, the bldg sustained major damage during the surprise Japanese attack on the morning of 7 December 1941, when several bombs exploded on the roof and one 500-pound bomb scored a direct hit on the mess hall. The term “Bearcat” is a descriptive word used when referring to an individual who attacks their goals aggressively and with tenacity, a term well suited for the IG team of professionals. Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam is a U.S. military facility adjacent to Honolulu, Hawaii and is a combination of both Hickam Air Force Base and Naval Base Pearl Harbor.
