The proud history of the 432d Operations Support Squadron (432 OSS) began with its activation on 31 May 1991 at Misawa Air Base, Japan. Assigned to the newly established 432d Operations Group of the famed “Hunters,” the Air men of the 432 OSS quickly demonstrated the high degree of excellence that remains the unit’s trademark.
As a result, the squadron earned its first unit decoration, an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award (AFOUA), for their efforts in the May to December 1991 period. Not content to rest on that laurel, the 432 OSS garnered another AFOUA before its inactivation on 1 October 1994. A few short years later, on 1 May 2007, the U.S. Air Force returned this distinguished squadron to active service with the rest of the 432d Wing’s Hunters at Creech Air Force Base, Nevada.
A key element within the service’s first remotely piloted aircraft systems wing, the 432 OSS plays an essential role in the execution of the MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper precision attack and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance combat missions in support of overseas contingency operations.
The superior manner in which the squadron carried out these duties contributed further to their legacy and honors, earning an Air Force Meritorious Unit Award (AFMUA) for 1June 2007 to 31 May 2009 period; a third AFOUA for 1 June 2009 to 31 May 2010; a second AFMUA for 1 June 2011 to 31 May 2012; a third AFMUA for 1 June 2012 to 31 May 2013; and a fourth AFOUA for 1 June 2013 to 31 May 2014.
