On 1 August 2014 the 39th Operations Squadron was inactivated and then immediately consolidated with the 39th Operations Support Squadron, Incirlik AB Turkey. The 39th Operations Support Squadron (39OSS) “Team Hydra” is part of the Weapons System Security Group, only one of its kind due to Surety mission requirements and lack of assigned aircraft at Incirlik. The 39th was originally activated in 1943 and “Designed to provide the minimum cadre to run a base for a limited time”. Today not much of the mission has changed. The 39 OSS stands ready to accept aircraft around the world as the Guardians to NATOs Southern Flank. “Always Here – Always Ready”!
