This poster is dedicated to the men and women who support and conduct security / search and rescue operations from Las Vegas Nevada in the UH-72A Lakota Helicopter. The unit motto is “Semper Vigilans” Always Vigilant. Det 1 B/D Co 3/140th AVN is a Nevada Army National Guard (NVARNG) Community based Search and Rescue unit based in Las Vegas. It operates as a Security/Support and Medical Evacuation Unit for Domestic operations. The mission aircraft is the UH-72A Lakota. “B” Company has the mission equipment package with the external spotlight and the Wescam Sensor array. “D” Company has the Medevac variant with the external hoist and Medical equipped interior. The unit is only minutes away from the famous Las Vegas Strip. The Eurocopter UH-72 Lakota is a twin-engine helicopter with a single, four-bladed main rotor. The UH-72 is a militarized version of the Eurocopter EC145 and was built by American Eurocopter (now Airbus Helicopters, Inc.), a division of Airbus Group, Inc. The UH-72A Lakota is an unarmed utility military version of the EC 145.

The Army National Guard is a part-time state-based military component that serves a dual mission. Each Guard unit serves under the command of their state governor to respond to natural disasters or other state emergencies. In addition, Guard units can be activated to defend the nation when needed. The Nevada National Guard is the component of the United States National Guard in Nevada. The governor of Nevada may call individuals or units of the Nevada National Guard into state service. The Constitution of the United States charges the National Guard of each state to support its dual federal and state missions.
The Nevada National Guard includes a total force of about 4,300 uniformed personnel with more than 3,000 Soldiers and about 1,200 Airmen. About 80 percent of Nevada National Guardsmen serve as so-called “traditional Guardsmen” who commit to participate in military training one weekend a month and 15 days each year in their respective military occupations and career fields. They are supported by full-time personnel, including about 480 federal technicians and 460 Active Guard and Reserve members.
