U.S. Air Force Welder Art

U.S. Air Force Welder Art.

A Welder is a skilled tradesperson who fuses materials together and also refers to the hardware equipment used to generate the welding arc. Welders permanently join metals or thermoplastics using high heat to melt the parts together and allow them to cool into a single piece. U.S. Air Force welders are classified as Aircraft Metals Technology specialists (AFSC 2A7X1). These specialized airmen are responsible for repairing, modifying, and custom-fabricating critical metal parts for aircraft and ground equipment. They work extensively with advanced materials like aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel using TIG, MIG, and stick welding. U.S. Air Force welders in construction are primarily working as Structural Maintenance Specialists (AFSC 3E3X1) and are responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining military infrastructure. They are typically members of RED HORSE and Prime BEEF which are two specialized, highly trained U.S. Air Force civil engineering units.
