U.S. Navy Welder Art, vintage style military art by Squadron Posters!
United States Naval Construction Battalions, better known as the Navy Seabees, form the U.S. Naval Construction Forces. The Seabee nickname is a heterograph of the initial letters “CB” from the words “Construction Battalion”. Depending upon context, “Seabee” can refer to all enlisted personnel in the USN’s occupational field 13, all personnel in the Naval Construction Force, or Construction Battalion. Seabees serve both in and outside the NCF. The men in the NCF considered these units to be “Seabee”. Navy Seabee Steelworkers are those special few who have the chance as adults to keep on building with their hands. As an SW, you’ll get on-the-job experience welding, performing specialized metalwork and crafting steel structures the Navy needs to complete its missions. And you’ll do it all while maintaining combat readiness, able to defend your unit at a moment’s notice. “We Build. We Fight.” is the Navy Seabees’ motto.
A Navy Hull Maintenance Technician (HT) is responsible for keeping ships afloat and functional by performing vital metalwork, welding, plumbing, and structural repairs. They are the critical problem-solvers on board who construct, repair, and maintain shipboard piping, marine sanitation systems, bulkheads, and fire mains.
