Naval Base San Diego, sometimes called 32nd Street Naval Station, is one of the largest U.S. Naval bases and is located in San Diego, California. Naval Base San Diego is the principal homeport of the Pacific Fleet, consisting of 50 ships and over 120 tenant commands. The base is composed of 13 piers stretched over 977 acres of land and 326 acres of water.

Naval Special Operations support squadron’s, in response to a request by U.S. Special Operations Command traded in its MH-60S Seahawks for the HH-60H Combat Search and Rescue/NSW support variant helicopters. U.S. Naval forces use the H-60 airframe under the model designations SH-60B, SH-60F, HH-60H, MH-60R, and MH-60S. Able to deploy aboard any air-capable frigate, destroyer, cruiser, fast combat support ship, amphibious assault ship, or aircraft carrier, the Seahawk can handle anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, naval special warfare insertion, search and rescue, combat search and rescue, vertical replenishment, and medical evacuation. All Naval H-60s carry a rescue hoist for SAR/CSAR missions.
