The Army IVAS system is being tested by the Army’s Project Convergence office. The technology is based on the a ruggatized version of the Microsoft Holoens 2 augment reality goggles. IVAS is focused on Solder Centered Design, where they rapidly prototype and iterate directly with soldiers and squad leaders. After nearly 2 years in development, the final IVAS Capability Set 4 system was scheduled to be fielded in 2021. Over 40,000 sets were planned to be issued.
