The 172nd Attack Squadron (172 ATKS) and the 110th Operations Support Squadron (110 OSS) both fall under the 110th Operations Group (110 OG) and are part of the 110th Attack Wing (110 ATKW) at Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, Michigan. It currently operates the MQ-9 Reaper in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Battle Creek ANGB sits 1 hour south of Grand Rapids, MI and is centrally located between Chicago and Detriot. 

The General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper (formerly named Predator B) is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of remote controlled or autonomous flight operations, developed by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) primarily for the United States Air Force (USAF). The MQ-9 and other UAVs are referred to as Remotely Piloted Vehicles/Aircraft (RPV/RPA) by the USAF to indicate their human ground controllers. The MQ-9 is the first hunter-killer UAV designed for long-endurance, high-altitude surveillance. In 2006, the then–Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force General T. Michael Moseley said: "We've moved from using UAVs primarily in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance roles before Operation Iraqi Freedom, to a true hunter-killer role with the Reaper".

Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121 (Green Knights) is the world’s only forward deployed 5th Generation fighter squadron equipped with the F-35B Lightning II.  The squadron is part of Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing and stationed at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan.  The squadron conducts operations around the Pacific including as part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard LHD/LHA class ships.
