<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Avon Park Air Force Range</strong> is a 106,000-acre <strong>United States Air Force</strong> air-to-ground training complex located in Central<strong> Florida</strong>. Avon Park is the largest primary-training range East of the Mississippi. In addition to two tactical ranges, two conventional ranges and multiple small arms and machine gun ranges, Avon Park also has an 8,000 foot runway. The <strong>598th Range Squadron</strong> runs Avon Park Air Force Range, which is a geographically separated unit of the 23d Fighter Group, 23d Wing, Moody Air Force Base, Georgia. The 598th Range Squadron traces it’s history back to the 598th Bombardment Squadron, which was founded at Avon Park Air Force Range in 1943 and flew B-26 Marauders throughout the European Theater during World War II. The Florida Army National Guard also maintains a permanent ground support facility at APAFR.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Avon Park Air Force Range’s</strong> mission is to provide a sustainable, world-class training complex focused on advanced, realistic and relevant training for joint, interagency, and multinational partners and excelling in air-ground integration. Avon Park facilitates an air-to-ground training range where they pair up ground personnel (JTACs) with air assets (A-10s, F-16s, etc…).</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;"><b>Spangdahlem Air Base</b> is a <strong>NATO air base</strong> with <strong>United States Air Force</strong> tenant constructed between 1951 and 1953 and located near the small German town of <strong>Spangdahlem</strong>, approximately 30 km NNE of the city of <strong>Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany</strong>.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">The <b>A-10 Thunderbolt II</b> is a single-seat, twin turbofan engine, straight wing jet aircraft developed by Fairchild-Republic for the United States Air Force. Commonly referred to by its nicknames <em><strong>"Warthog"</strong></em> or <em><strong>"Hog"</strong></em>, its official name comes from the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, a World War II fighter that was effective at attacking ground targets. The <strong>A-10</strong> was designed for close-in support of ground troops, close air support (CAS), and providing quick-action support for troops against helicopters and ground forces. It entered service in 1976 and is the only production-built aircraft that has served in the USAF that was designed solely for CAS. Its secondary mission is to provide forward air controller – airborne (FAC-A) support, by directing other aircraft in attacks on ground targets. Aircraft used primarily in this role are designated <i>OA-10</i>.</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;">The <strong>355th Operations Support Squadron (355th OSS)</strong> supports the 355th Fighter Wing combat missions tasked by the President, the Secretary of Defense, and the Chief of Joint Chief of Staff. The squadron also directs operational support functions including airfield, air traffic control and weather services, weapons and tactics, plans and exercises, intelligence and aircrew flight equipment for an operations group with three <strong>A/OA-10 squadrons</strong>. The <strong>355th OSS </strong>is based out of <strong>Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona </strong>and provides aviation support for nine other flying units on base and develops flying schedules for over 14,000 sorties per year. Their Motto: <em><strong>“Guide Those Who Fly”</strong></em> and their Nickname: <em><strong>“Firebirds”</strong></em>. </span><span style="color: #000000;">The <b>Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II</b> (also know as the <em><strong>“Warthog”</strong></em>) is an American twin-engine, straight wing jet aircraft developed by Fairchild-Republic in the early 1970s.
