<p><span style="color: #000000;">The <b>122nd Fighter Squadron (122nd FS)</b> is a unit of the <strong>Louisiana Air National Guard</strong> 159th Fighter Wing located at <strong>Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans, Louisiana</strong>. It operates the <strong>F-15C</strong> providing air superiority abroad to combatant commanders on request and at home in conducting the alert air sovereignty mission. The squadron is a descendant organization of the <b>122d Observation Squadron</b>, established on 30 July 1940. It is one of the 29 original National Guard Observation Squadrons of the United States Army National Guard formed before World War II. (<em><strong>"Bayou Militia"</strong></em>)</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><b>Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans</b> is a base of the <strong>United States military</strong> located in <strong>Belle Chasse</strong>, unincorporated <strong>Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana</strong>. <b>NAS JRB New Orleans</b> is home to a Nav Reserve strike fighter squadron and a fleet logistics support squadron, the 159th Fighter Wing (159 FW) of the <strong>Louisiana Air National Guard</strong>, Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans, a detachment of a Marine Reserve light helicopter attack squadron, as well as other US Nav &#38; US Army activities. The base has a 24/7 operating schedule to support both the 159 FW's NORAD air sovereignty/homeland defense requirements and for Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans search and rescue/maritime law enforcement/port security missions. It contains a military airport known as <b>Alvin Callender Field</b> which is located three nautical miles (6 km) south of the central business district of <strong>New Orleans</strong>. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">The <b>McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle</b> is an American twin-engine, all-weather <strong>tactical fighter aircraft</strong> designed by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) to gain and maintain air supremacy in aerial combat. The <strong>F-15C</strong> is an improved single-seat all-weather air-superiority fighter version.</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry Aviation Department—North Louisiana: </strong></span><span style="color: #000000;">During a typical patrol <strong>flight pilots</strong> scan the horizon first for known smoke types to <strong>locate fires</strong> that have been turned into the district as a controlled burn and secondly, for fires of an unknown nature.  Pilots have training and years of acquired specialized experience that play a key role once smoke is spotted.   Fire and surrounding areas are scouted and the potential threat assessed; if required ground wild land fire crews will be directed to the fires by the most direct routes and assist with the placement of men and equipment on the fire.  Pilots provide ground crews with an <strong>airborne picture</strong> of the situation and give relevant information to the crews to combat the fire, protect property, structures and aid in the safe evacuation of the citizenry.</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;">The <b style="color: #000000;">96th Bomb Squadron </b>is a unit of the <strong>United States Air Force</strong> 2d Operations Group located at<strong style="color: #000000;"> Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana</strong>. The <strong>96th</strong> is equipped with the <strong style="color: #000000;">B-52H '<em>Stratofortress</em>'</strong>.  This awesome <strong>Barksdale 96th <em><span style="color: #c73030;">'<span style="color: #a61f1f;">Red Devils</span>'</span></em></strong> print incorporates their heritage patch from WW2.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Formed in August 1917, the <strong>96 BS</strong> saw combat on the World War I Western Front, in France. It took part in the St. Mihiel offensive and Meuse-Argonne offensive. Later, it served with the Army Air Service and Army Air Corps in the Inter-War period it participated in Brig. Gen. Billy Mitchell's 1921 off-shore bombing tests and during World War II fought in the North African and Italian Campaigns. It was a part of Strategic Air Command during the Cold War. Since 1993, the <strong>96th Bomb Squadron</strong> has flown the <strong>B-52H Stratofortress</strong> long-range heavy bomber, which can perform a variety of missions. Today the squadron is engaged in the Global War on Terrorism.</span></p>
