					<description><![CDATA[<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>McChord Field, 97th Airlift Squadron 75 Years <span style="color: #0000ff;">Heritage Art</span>.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>The 97th Airlift Squadron (97 AS)</strong> is part of the 446th Airlift Wing (Reserve) at <strong>Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington</strong>. It operates the <strong>C-17A Globemaster III</strong> supporting the USAF global reach mission worldwide. McChord is just south of Tacoma, Washington and 45 minutes south of Seattle. The squadron was formed as the 97th Troop Carrier Squadron on <span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>May 25, 1943</strong></span>. Over the next 75 years, the squadron’s role transitioned from airlift, to fighter-bomber, then back to airlift.  The 97th has operated over  a dozen aircraft types since the Normandy invasion, primarily the C-47 Dakota, F-51 Mustang, C-119 Flying Boxcar, C-124 Globemaster II, C-141 Starlifter, and the C-17 Globemaster III.</span></p>

The base is 45 minutes West of Sacramento, 45 minutes East of Napa, and an hour East of San Francisco. The Pacific Ocean is a few hours to the West and the Sierra Mountains are to the East. The <strong>21AS <em>“BeeLiners”</em>,</strong> are a part of the global reach mission flying all over the world. They are the Air Force’s busiest C-17 squadron with the most hours flown yearly.</span></p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>167th AW Low Level C-17 poster art.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><b>Shepherd Field Air National Guard Base</b> is the home base of the <strong>West Virginia Air National Guard 167th Airlift Wing</strong> located at the <strong>Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport</strong>, 4 miles south of <strong>Martinsburg, West Virginia</strong>. During peak surges, the installation population is approximately military 1500 personnel, consisting of both full-time Air Reserve Technicians (ART) and Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) and part-time Traditional Guardsmen (TG). The 167th Airlift Group was redesignated the <strong>167th Airlift Wing (167 AW)</strong> on 1 October 1995 and as it became operationally capable in the C-130H-3 aircraft to perform its airlift mission. BRAC 2005 converted the wing's aircraft from the C-130 Hercules to the C-5 Galaxy. In February 2012, the Force Structure Overview was released by the Secretary of the Air Force. The document detailed numerous aircraft changes throughout the active, Guard and Reserve forces, including the replacement of the unit's C-5 aircraft with <strong>C-17's</strong>. On September 25, 2014, the 167th Airlift Wing flew its final C-5 mission, a local training sortie. That same day the wing received its first <strong>C-17 Globemaster III</strong> aircraft, one of eight C-17s the unit is slated to receive.</span></p>

The Air Force headquarters is located at <strong>Abdullah Al-Mubarak Air Base</strong>, with the remaining forces stationed at Air Defense Brigades, Ali Al Salem Air Base and Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base. The Kuwait Air Force numbers approximately 5,000 officers and enlisted personnel.</span></p>
