The E-3 Sentry, also known as an AWACS, is an aircraft that provides airborne early warning and control (AEW&C). It is used by the United States Air Force (USAF), NATO, the Royal Air Force (RAF), the French Air Force, and the Royal Saudi Air Force to provide all-weather surveillance, command, control, and communications. The distinctive rotating radar dome above the fuselage distinguishes the E-3. After 68 aircraft were built, production ended in 1992.
