Established July 31, 1987, the 3rd Battalion, 140th Aviation Regiment is part of the California Army National Guard. It organized on 1 October 1987 from existing units to consist of the 1st Battalion and Companies Delta, Echo, Fox, Golf and elements of the 40th Infantry Division. The unit has reorganized numerous times and as of 2018 is named 3rd Battalion, 140th Aviation Regiment (Security and Support).

This poster is dedicated to the men and women who support and conduct security / search and rescue operations from Las Vegas Nevada in the UH-72A Lakota Helicopter.  The unit motto is “Semper Vigilans” Always Vigilant. Det 1 B/D Co 3/140th AVN is a Nevada Army National Guard (NVARNG) Community based Search and Rescue unit based in Las Vegas.  It operates as a Security/Support and Medical Evacuation Unit for Domestic operations. The mission aircraft is the UH-72A  Lakota. "B" Company has the mission equipment package with the external spotlight and the Wescam Sensor array. "D" Company has the Medevac variant with the external hoist and Medical equipped interior. The unit is only minutes away from the famous Las Vegas Strip. The Eurocopter UH-72 Lakota is a twin-engine helicopter with a single, four-bladed main rotor. The UH-72 is a militarized version of the Eurocopter EC145 and was built by American Eurocopter (now Airbus Helicopters, Inc.), a division of Airbus Group, Inc. The UH-72A Lakota is an unarmed utility military version of the EC 145.
