Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University provided the Academy Flight Screening (AFS) program for the United States Air Force Academy in DA20-C1 Falcons, which were specially ordered with slightly smaller fuel tanks to save weight and primary flight instruments on the right side of the aircraft. Embry-Riddle operated a fleet of DA-20s at the Academy. The AFS program was discontinued in 2007.

Doss Aviation, under contract for the United States Air Force, currently operates a fleet of DA-20s at the Pueblo Memorial Airport in the Initial Flight Training (IFT) program. Potential USAF Pilots, Combat Systems Officers, and RPA pilots that do not have a private pilot's license must go through the Doss screening program and receive time in the DA20 before going on to their respective training programs.

Initial Flight Training (IFT) is a preliminary flight training course for U.S. Air Force officers, to include active-duty Regular Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard, who have been selected for Pilot training. Attendance consists of both newly commissioned USAF officers (i.e., second lieutenants) and prior-commissioned USAF officers (e.g., first lieutenants, captains and in very rare instances majors) with no previous rated flight experience.

This vintage art deco style military aviation travel poster DA-20 - Initial Flight Screener is dedicated to all those who attended IFS. Every USAF pilot is required to pass through Initial Flight Screener (IFS) in Pueblo, Colorado where they fly the Diamond 20, single engine trainer.  I went through in the summer of 2009 and can honestly say this program is one of the hardest military training schools I have been through. This poster features the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop that everyone can appreciate who has been to Doss Aviation. -Nick
