Lackland AFB RB-47E 688th CW poster art.

The 688th Cyberspace Wing is America’s first cyberspace wing. Located in San Antonio, Texas, the 688th Cyberspace Wing operates a multitude of cyberspace weapon systems to provide cyberspace capabilities to the warfighters of the United States Air and Space Forces. The Wing traces its lineage back to 1953 during the closing days of the Korean War. The Wing’s mascot is the Tiger, whose predecessor dates to May 2010 when the Wing chose a mascot in time for an Air Force Space Command competition called GUARDIAN CHALLENGE. For this competition, the Wing came up with the “Cyber-Toothed Tiger.” By the summer of 2021, with the Wing fully engaged in its Optimization and Transformation initiative, the Cyber-Toothed Tiger had also transformed—to the Tiger of today.
