<p><span style="color: #000000;" data-darkreader-inline-color="">The <strong>1st Fighter Wing</strong> is responsible for one third of the <strong>U.S. Air Force</strong>'s combat <strong>F-22 Raptors</strong>. The 1st Fighter Wing leads the way in combat capability and lethality in current operations worldwide, and serves as America's premier Air Dominance wing, led by next generation Airmen, integrated with its mission partners, and ready to <em><strong>"fly, fight, and win...anytime, anyplace"</strong></em>. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><em><strong>"Balloon Busters!"</strong> </em>On February 4th, 2023, two F-22 Raptors from the 1st Fighter Wing at Langley Air Force Base were involved in the downing of a Chinese ISR balloon had the callsigns: <em><strong>“FRANK01”</strong></em> and <em><strong>“FRANK02,”</strong></em> which was named in honor of WWI pilot Frank<em> “Balloon Buster”</em> Luke Jr. First Lieutenant Frank Luke Jr. was credited with 19 aerial victories, 14 of which were German balloons.
