Langley AFB 94 FS "First To Fight" poster art.

The 94th Fighter Squadron (94 FS) is part of the 1st Fighter Wing stationed at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. The original 94th Aero Squadron was organized at Kelly Field, Texas on 20 August 1917 and draws lineage from the famed American volunteer pilots known as the Lafayette Escadrille through consolidation with the 103d Aero Squadron following WWI. This consolidation means the 94 FS represents the very first Combat Airmen in US history. The 94th was the first all-American squadron to the fight and scored the first ever aerial victories by American-trained Airmen through the exploits of Lt. Douglas Campbell and Lt. Alan Winslow on 14 April 1918 over the skies of Toul, France. (See more below)

The 94th Fighter Squadron is part of the 1st Fighter Wing based out of Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. Established in 1917, it is one of the most decorated fighter squadrons in America’s history. Under the command of Lafayette Escadrille ace, Raoul Lufbery, the 94th threw America’s “hat in the ring” as the first American unit at the front during World War I. The 94th is credited with 70 aerial victories during WWI, including 26 kills from famous “Ace of aces” Eddie Rickenbacker. Having flown Nieuport 28 and SPAD XIII into combat, the 94th was nicknamed the “SPADs”. Today, the 94th FS continues the legacy of aerial domination in the F-22 Raptor. The squadron recently was the first F-22 squadron to employ Small Diameter Bombs in combat while eliminating ISIS. The squadron is proud of its history and always ready to throw its “Hat in the Ring” of the fight!
