<p><span style="color: #000000;">The <strong>79th Air Refueling Squadron</strong> is a<strong> United States Air Force Reserve</strong> squadron assigned to the<strong> 349th Operations Group</strong> , stationed at <strong>Travis Air Force Base</strong> , California. They currently fly the brand new <strong>KC - 46A Pegasus</strong>, one of the nation's most versatile mobility weapon system, providing combat air refueling and global cargo/passenger operations, extending America’s airpower worldwide! Their heritage goes all the way back to WWII where they participated in D - Day flying the C - 47 Skytrain 42 - 100521 “Night Fright” to drop the 101st Airborne Division paratroops near Cherbourg Naval Base back when they were known as the “Fightin’ 79th .” The 79th was assigned to March AFB in 1982 to fly the McDonnell Douglas KC - 10 Extender before being reassigned to Travis AFB in 1995. The 79th flew the KC - 10 until its retirement in 2024.</span></p>

They are a part of the <strong>349th Operations Group</strong> which handles the Airlift and Air Refueling part of Travis AFB. Such squadrons as the 301st (<strong>C-17</strong>), 312th (<strong>C-5</strong>), and the 70th/79th (<strong>KC-10</strong>’s). The OSS’s mission is to Deliver Fully Integrated, Ready Airmen and Expertise to Enable Rapid Global Mobility.</span></p>
