<p><span style="color: #000000;">The <b>96th Bomb Squadron (96 BS)</b> is a unit of the <strong>United States Air Force </strong>2d Operations Group located at <strong>Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana</strong>. The 96th is equipped with the <strong>B-52H Stratofortress</strong>.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Formed on <strong>August 20th 1917</strong>, the <strong>96 BS</strong> saw combat on the World War I Western Front, in France. It took part in the St. Mihiel offensive and Meuse-Argonne offensive. Later, it served with the Army Air Service and Army Air Corps in the Inter-War period it participated in Brig. Gen. Billy Mitchell's 1921 off-shore bombing tests and during World War II fought in the North African and Italian Campaigns. It was a part of Strategic Air Command during the Cold War. Since 1993, the <strong>96th Bomb Squadron</strong> has flown the <strong><span style="color: #000000;">B-52H Strato</span>fortress</strong> long-range heavy bomber, which can perform a variety of missions. Today the squadron is engaged in the Global War on Terrorism.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">The <b>Boeing B-52 Stratofortress</b> is a long-range, subsonic, jet-powered strategic bomber. The <strong>B-52</strong> was designed and built by Boeing, which has continued to provide support and upgrades. It has been operated by the <strong>United States Air Force (USAF)</strong> since the 1950s. The bomber is capable of carrying up to 70,000 pounds (32,000 kg) of weapons. <strong>First Flight, April 15th, 1952</strong>. </span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;"><b style="color: #000000;">Naval Air Station Lemoore</b> or <b style="color: #000000;">NAS Lemoore</b> is a <strong style="color: #000000;">United States Navy</strong> base, located in Kings County and Fresno County, California. </span><span style="color: #000000;">NAS Lemoore is the newest and largest Master naval Jet Base. <b>Strike Fighter Wing Pacific</b>, along with its associated squadrons, is home ported there. <strong>NAS Lemoore</strong> also hosts four Carrier Air Wings: Carrier Air Wing Two (CVW-2), Carrier Air Wing Nine (CVW-9), Carrier Air Wing Eleven (CVW-11), and Carrier Air Wing Seventeen (CVW-17).</span></p>

The <strong>lead ship</strong> of the class is named for World War II United States Pacific Fleet commander <strong>Admiral Chester W. Nimitz</strong>. With an overall length of 1,092 ft (333 m) and full-load displacements of over 100,000 long tons, they have been the largest warships built and in service, although they are being eclipsed by the upcoming <i>Gerald R. Ford</i>-class aircraft carriers.</span></p>
