Roosevelt ordered the Secretary of War to acquire land to build a military airfield at the present site of <strong>Joint Base Andrews</strong>, with construction beginning later that year. On 19 April 1943, the first permanent unit arrived, the 463rd Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron.</span></p>

The DCANG is headquartered at the District of Columbia Armory. Since the District of Columbia lacks an Air Force installation with a runway, the DCANG flying units of the <strong>113th Wing</strong> are stationed at nearby <strong>Joint Base Andrews</strong> in Maryland.</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;">The <b>932nd Airlift Wing</b> (<b>932d AW)</b>, is an Air Reserve Force Reserve Command flying unit. It is assigned to the Twenty-Second Air Force, Air Force Reserve Command, stationed at <strong>Scott Air Force Base</strong>, Illinois. The 932nd Airlift Wing's mission is to generate unrivaled, combat-ready Citizen Airmen. It's <strong>C-40C</strong> planes provide first-class, worldwide, safe, and reliable airlift for distinguished visitors and their staffs. The wing maintains aircraft for special assignment missions. It equips, trains and organizes a ready force of Citizen Airmen to support and maintain all facets of air base operations involving infrastructure and security. The wing also provides worldwide medical services to the warfighter from the front line to the continental United States fixed medical treatment facilities. Airmen of the wing have deployed around the world in many specialties ranging from operations, to security forces, doctors and nurses, aeromedical evacuation, force support, maintenance, and explosive ordnance disposal technicians.</span></p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Scott AFB C-40 73rd Airlift Squadron</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">The <b>73d Airlift Squadron</b> is a United States Air Force Reserve squadron, assigned to the 932d Operations Group. The squadron operates <strong>C-40 Clipper</strong> aircraft providing executive airlift for distinguished visitors and their staffs.Established in early 1943 as a C-47 Skytrain transport squadron under First Air Force, later trained under I Troop Carrier Command in the eastern United States. Deployed to England in late 1943, being assigned to Ninth Air Force in England, IX Troop Carrier Command to participate in the buildup of forces prior to the Allied landings in France during D-Day in June 1944.  It transported personnel, equipment, and supplies and airdropped airborne troops and equipment from, 1957–1967. The squadron conducted long range movement of troops, cargo, and equipment from 1965 to 1969 and trained for space capsule recovery from, 1961–1969. It augmented the active duty 375th Airlift Wing in operating the aeromedical airlift system from, 1969–2005. Since 2005 the 73d has conducted executive airlift with the 54th Airlift Squadron, an Active-Associate Squadron under TFA (Total Force Association).</span></p>
