Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton (MCB Camp Pendleton) is the major West Coast base of the United States Marine Corps. It is located on the Southern California coast, in San Diego County, and bordered by Oceanside to the south, San Clemente, Cleveland National Forest, Orange and Riverside counties to the north, and Fallbrook to the east. The CH-46 “Sea Knight” is a medium-lift tandem rotor transport helicopter powered by twin turbine engines. It is used by the Marine Corps to provide all-weather, day-or-night assault transport of combat troops, supplies and equipment. Additional tasks include combat support, search and rescue (SAR), support for forward refueling and rearming points, CASEVAC and Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel (TRAP).
