The USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) is 4.5 acres of sovereign United States territory capable of traveling to the furthest reaches of the globe. Stennis and her crew provide forward presence and credible deterrence, and conducts sustained air operations, maritime interdiction, counter-piracy operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. As the John C. Stennis Strike Group flag ship, (CSG-3), Stennis hosts an embarked air wing and deploys with as many as six ships. Home to more than 3,000 men and women, the Stennis is home ported in Bremerton, Washington at Naval Base Kitsap on the Puget Sound directly across from Seattle, WashingtonCarrier Strike Group 3 (motto: “In Mundo Optimum”) encompasses several ships, submarines and aircraft on the Pacific Coast and currently operates on it’s flagship, the USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74), which is a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered carrier.
