Lackland Air Force Base is the Air Force’s only site for enlisted basic military training for all non-prior service Airmen of the regular Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve. Lackland AFB is known as the ‘Gateway to the Air Force‘ because 25,000 civilians become Airmen every year and is located in San Antonio, Texas. The base is under the jurisdiction of the 802d Mission Support Group, Air Education and Training Command. Lackland AFB also offers professional and technical skills training and provides students from 117 countries the opportunity to increase their proficiency in the English language through its Defense Language Institute English Language Center.
