Dyess AFB C-130H poster art.

Dyess Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base located approximately 7 miles southwest of Abilene, Texas. Dyess AFB was established in 1942 as Abilene Army Air Base. It is named in honor of Texas native and Bataan Death March survivor Lieutenant Colonel William Dyess. The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft designed and built originally by Lockheed, now Lockheed Martin. Capable of using unprepared runways for takeoffs and landings, the C-130 was originally designed as a troop, medical evacuation, and cargo transport aircraft.
