The 146th Airlift wing or “Hollywood Guard” as it is also known, has been a part of SoCal’s extensive aviation history since the mid-1920s. The 146th stretched back to the days of the 115th observation squadron. Originally at Van Nuys airport, the hollywood guard moved to Channel Islands Air National guard station, Ca. The hollywood guard flies the C-130J and is one of four ANG units that operates the Modular Airborne Fire Fighting system.
