This vintage style military naval travel poster “Apra Harbor Guam USS Chicago SSN-721” is dedicated to the Submariners who served on the USS ChicagoUSS Chicago (SSN-721) is a Los Angeles-class submarine, the fourth ship of the United States Navy to be named for the city of Chicago, Illinois. The contract to build her was awarded to Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company in Newport News, Virginia on 13 August 1981 and her keel was laid down on 5 January 1983, launched on 13 October 1984 and commissioned on 27 September 1986. Apra Harbor is a deep-water port on the western side of the United States territory of Guam. The harbor is formed by Orote Peninsula in the south and Cabras Island in the north. To the south, the harbor narrows and then widens again to form an inner harbor. The southern end of the harbor is the location of Naval Base Guam, a strategic U.S. naval base located on Apra Harbor.
