NAS Jacksonville VP-5 P-8 Poseidon

NAS Jacksonville VP-5, P-8 Poseidon vintage style poster art.

The Patrol Squadron FIVE (VP-5) “Mad Foxes” belong to Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing 11, based at NAS Jacksonville, FL, and fly the P-8 Poseidon.  VP-5 is the second oldest patrol squadron and the fourth oldest squadron in the Navy.  The Mad Fox mascot takes its roots from the VPB-135 “Blind Foxes” of World War II fame.  In 2016, the Mad Foxes became the first P-8A Poseidon squadron to win the Battle “E.” Naval Air Station Jacksonville or NAS Jacksonville is a military airport located four miles (6 km) south of the central business district of Jacksonville, Florida. It is one of two naval bases (the other being Naval Station Mayport) located in Duval County. The Boeing P-8 Poseidon (formerly the Multimission Maritime Aircraft or MMA) is a military aircraft developed for the United States Navy. The P-8 conducts anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, and shipping interdiction, along with an electronic signals intelligence role.
