This Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Poster is dedicated to the men and women who have served or are serving in the 9th Air Support Operations Squadron at Fort Hood Army Installation in central Texas. They integrate close air support into combat operations for the 1st Cavalry Division. TACPs are Battlefield Airmen and deploy alongside their Army brethren for extended periods, often to engage in direct combat against the enemy. The 9th Air Support Operations Squadron at Fort Hood, Texas, is part of the 93rd Air Ground Operations Wing out of Moody Air Force Base, Georgia.  Its mission is to integrate Air and Space power into joint operations with precision and agility to meet combatant commander objectives in accordance with CFACC guidance using Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs).  The Squadron deploys Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) members worldwide in support of 1st Cavalry Division and is the most deployed unit among the entire Combat Air Forces.  The Squadron currently supports five major overseas contingency operations.  Fort Hood is just over an hour from Austin, Texas, two hours away from Fort Worth and Dallas, and two and a half hours from San Antonio.  The Squadron nickname is “Destroyers”.
