Ft. Gordon 3d Intelligence Squadron

The 3d Intelligence Squadron is part of the 480th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group at Fort Gordon, GA.  It has progressed from its roots in World War II as the 3d Photo Lab Section to the 3d Reconnaissance Technical Squadron in the Cold War to its current position assisting the Gordon Regional Security Operations Center, part of the Department of Defense’s system of Regional Security Operation Centers; providing a variety of intelligence services supporting the U.S. Central Command, the U.S. European Command, and the U.S. Special Operations Command.  The unit, nicknamed the “Desert Jackals” take pride in supporting our nation’s objectives by being, “In the fight, from out of sight!”

Fort Gordon is a U.S. Army Installation that is home to the U.S. Army Signal Corps and the National Security Agency/Central Security Service-Georgia Campus. It is named for the Confederate Lieutenant General John Brown Gordon who later served as a Georgia Governor, U.S. Senator and businessman.  Fort Gordon is located just west of Augusta, GA, home of the prestigious Masters Golf Tournament.
