USAF SERE Specialist – Fairchild AFB

USAF SERE Specialist – Fairchild AFB poster art.

Every member of an aircrew must be able to survive on their own in any environment under any condition should their aircraft go down. Members of Air Force Special Operations, Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) specialists teach Airmen everything they need to know to do just that. From building shelters and procuring water to land navigation and evasion techniques, these highly trained experts impart the skills needed for Airmen to survive on their own and evade the enemy until they can be rescued and brought home.

The USAF Survival School is a part of the 336th Training Group at Fairchild Air Force Base and is the U.S. Air Force’s sole unit responsible for training the famed SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape) specialists who in turn, train more than 6,000 students a year. SERE Specialist are the instructors that teach all of the survival schools for the air force. The U.S. Air Force is the only branch of service where serving as a “SERE Specialist”, is a full-time career.

SERE training is intended, above all, to provide students with the skills needed to live up to the U.S. military code of conduct when in uncertain or hostile environments.
